Art students have smashing time in Copenhagen
Art Foundation Degree students Emma George and Lynda Vusthoff had a smashing time in Copenhagen with crockery and ceramics.
The Northumberland College pair went to Denmark for a three week work placement as part of their Foundation Degree in Applied Art.
Emma, 43, from Craster, who is in her second year, had a placement in the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory hand painting designs onto crockery.
Lynda, 51, a third year student from Ashington, was placed with a ceramic designer who has her own business, and was introduced to many other Danish designers who work in this way.
The trip came via an exchange programme between Teknisk Erhvervsskole Center in Frederiksberg and Northumberland College, which has been running successfully for many years.
Course team leader Jacqui Dixon said: “The trip forms an important part of the students’ course as the Foundation Degree has a module dedicated to work experience.
"These new qualifications recognise that links need to be made with industry during study as a way of introducing students to their vocational area.”
The placement was organised through the Leonardo Project, which aims to give students real work experience in a wide variety of places in Europe.
