At Northumberland College you will have many opportunities to use your qualifications to progress to higher education, either to universities all over the country or within the college itself.

We offer a wide range of higher education courses at our Ashington and Kirkley Hall campuses in partnership with Northumbria University, the University of Sunderland and Sheffield Hallam University.

Our Info Zone and tutors will help you decide which is right for you, or help you decide which university to apply for if the course you wish to follow is not available here.

If you find the perfect higher education course here at the college you’ll be able to study in our dedicated higher education unit at our Ashington campus.

We offer HNCs and HNDs in:

at our Ashington campus, and at the Kirkley Hall campus:

If it's a Foundation Degree that interests you, at Ashington you can choose from:

At Kirkley Hall we offer a Foundation Degree in:

For those that want to convert their HND or Foundation Degree in a computing subject to a BSc Honours Degree, an e-Top up course is available.

We also offer higher education courses in education and training, including a brand new Foundation Degree in Training and Work Based Learning for teachers, lecturers and people whose jobs require them to carry out staff training. These courses are very flexible and are designed to fit in with your current working commitments.

For those who want to study at university after a break from education, the Higher Education Foundation Course (HEFC) offers access to a number of university courses. The HEFC is the equivalent of A Levels and is offered in a wide variety of subjects. Many of our students go on to continue their studies at university, or on one of the college’s own higher education courses.

Weather forces college closures

Northumberland College was forced to close its centres this morning (Thursday) due to the ongoing snow.

All students are advised that there will be no lessons this afternoon or evening at any centres. The college expects to open as normal again tomorrow (Friday).

The college phone system is currently down, so we are unable to take any calls.

Engineers are working hard to fix the problem and hope to have the system back up and running soon. In the meantime, you can email advice.centre@northland.ac.uk or use the Live support service via the button on this home page to access our contact centre staff.

Apologies for any inconvenience.
