Aquatics centre at our Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens

This brand-new facility opened in 2014 and is home to fish from the vast coral reefs of Indonesia to brackish estuaries flowing from the amazon. The centre also houses amphibians and other water loving species.

This facility enables students to work with all four water habitats; brackish, freshwater, marine and cold water as well as the latest technology in terms of water filtration and temperature. There are over 6,000 litres worth of aquariums that are home to fish, invertebrates and amphibians.
Visitors to the zoo experience illuminated aquariums, carefully designed LED lighting and a rainbow of colourful fish from exotic shores.
