At Northumberland College we have a wide range of sport, exercise and outdoor education courses, offering development opportunities for people beginning their career in sport and leisure, as well as those already working in the industry.

There are many rewarding career paths in sport and leisure. Whether you are looking to develop a career as a fitness instructor, sports coach or sports therapist or wish to work in outdoor education or uniformed services, we have courses to suit your needs.

We are registered with many of the national training organisations for sport and leisure, and our courses range from level 1 to 3 in sports science, outdoor education and uniformed services.

Facilities include fully equipped sports halls and fitness suites at both our main sites - Ashington and Kirkley Hall. We also have a huge sports field, a high ropes course plus a water sports centre at Blyth and access to some of the most beautiful and challenging countryside in England for outdoor sporting activities.

The group climbed the 6153 metres of Stok Kangri over nine days this summer, via a little used trekking route, putting the skills they have learnt on their course and in training sessions into practice.
