Animal Care And Veterinary Nursing

Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing

Working with animals is an extremely rewarding vocation that requires a high level of skill and dedication. There are many career opportunities in expanding animal related industries including veterinary surgeries, kennels and catteries, zoos, breeding, retail management, animal sanctuaries and marketing animal products.

Whether you’re already working in this sector or would like to begin a career caring for animals, we have training ranging from entry level courses, right through to higher education. This year we have launched a brand new course in veterinary nursing to increase your choice of training for a career working with animals.

Our courses lead to a variety of job opportunities in the industry and can offer progression onto university courses.

Our facilities offer you an excellent environment in which to train, gaining hands on practical experience in our animal management unit, which is stocked with a variety of animals including rabbits, chinchillas, rodents, terrapins, and the more exotic varieties such as Chinese water dragons, chameleons and iguanas.

Exciting new enclosures housing more zoo related animals are planned for the 2010/11 academic year.

Our animal care courses will also give you the opportunity to work with larger animals such as sheep, cattle and pigs.
Students undertake practical duties caring for the animals on a rota basis which forms an important part of their industrial placement.
