Welcome to the School of Hospitality and Catering. We offer a wide range of courses, from entry level and apprenticeships to higher education. Join us and we’ll equip you with the skills and discipline to take you to the highest level of the catering profession

We provide Hospitality and Catering qualifications for learners of all ages at school, college and work.

Our brand new, state-of-the-art Kitchen features professional,  industry-standard equipment, so you'll be learning on the same type of facilities used in the workplace. We even have a working restaurant, The Gallery Restaurant, enabling you to gain valuable experience in a real work environment with real customers. Here, you'll learn how to work under pressure as part of a team to run a busy commercial business, while developing your skills in the kitchen and front of house. Our aspiring chefs can also gain from experience at our Kirkley Hall Campus which offers weddings, conferences and events of all types to further develop skils in as many environments as possible.

Depending on the course you take, you could become a sous chef, chef de partie, team leader, conference manager, kitchen assistant, head waiter, head receptionist, front office manager, catering supervisor, housekeeper, or duty manager.

 

Our courses are nationally recognised across the UK for equipping students with the necessary skills to achieve gainful employment They are designed to help you move directly into an exciting, rewarding career or to go on to study at a higher or more specialised level.

Northumberland College Overall NECTA Competition winners

Northumberland College students were crowned North East Culinary and Trade Association (NECTA) Champions for the first time in the College's history after securing five gold, four silver and 12 bronze medals as well as three trophies, two cups and the overall competition winners plate. Read more >
