Our Kirkley Hall campus has a long established history as the main provider of land based education and training in the region, stretching back more than 50 years.

Our industry experienced tutors and excellent learning facilities enable us to offer the best possible experience to our students, whether they are looking to take their first step into a land based career or wish to progress to higher education.

The running rural campus in Ponteland is approximately 8 miles from Newcastle city centre and is easily accessible by bus or car, so you can enjoy the best of city and rural life.

Campus facilities
The campus provides excellent learning facilities to give practical hands on training and help you develop the skills you need for your future career. These include:

Animal Management Centre
Our animal management centre provides a fantastic realistic working environment. Open to the public during weekends and holidays, Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens is home to over one hundred species of animal including marmosets, wallabies, emus and donkeys. Equestrian Centre
Our equine facilities include a 25 horse stable yard, eight horse DIY livery yard for student horses, two 60x30m outdoor all weather arenas and a brand new indoor riding arena. We have a wide variety of horses both college owned and on loan. Other facilities include a horse walker, weighbridge, solarium, gait analysis facilities and indoor demonstrating barns.

Working Farm
Our two commercially run farms at Kirkley Hall and Carlcroft in the Cheviot Hills provide an ideal
environment in which to study. Our students are actively involved in care of our cattle and sheep livestock and land operations on the two farms throughout the year

Extensive Gardens and Grounds
Our gardens exceed four hectares and include a large collection of unusual trees, shrubs, herbaceous and ornamental borders and 1,330sqm of amenity and commercial greenhouses. We have a brand new dedicated garden studio with high specification computers and the latest CAD design software.

Renewable Energies Workshop
The renewable energies workshop has excellent purpose built workshop facilities and a number of wind turbines and associated equipment.

Learning Resource Centre
Our Learning Resource Centre is devoted to the land based sector and includes a range of learning material resources, an IT suite with internet and email access, and quiet study areas.

Cyber Café
Our new cyber café contains 24 computers for use by students during college hours.

Sports Hall and Gym
Our sports hall and gym are available to students and members of the public to book sessions outside of college hours. Telephone 01670 841221 for more details and to book.

Cedar Tree Café
Our café offers a range of hot and cold meals and snacks with lots of healthy options to suit all tastes and budgets.

High Ropes
Our high ropes facility is a great team building facility with qualified instructors and is available for hire to small or large groups for full and half day sessions.

Weddings, conferences and events
