At Northumberland College we pride ourselves on the services we have available for learners, past present and future.

Pop in and see us during our opening times at Ashington or Kirkley Hall where you can meet our team of friendly and approachable IAG advisors, who are Matrix accredited, and can tell you everything about the courses we have on offer and help you apply for the course of your choice.

At Northumberland College we understand that coming to College may be difficult for a variety of reasons and we continually strive to remove those barriers by providing services to reduce the cost of coming to College and to support you once you are here!  At Northumberland College we support the whole you, not just a learner!

Our Learner Support and Bursary helps fund:

  • Free travel on a fleet of comfortable coaches which will be traveling daily throughout the region

  • Accommodation costs, if traveling a distance from home to study
  • Essential kit and equipment deemed necessary to complete your course

We can also offer you help and advice with completing applications for:

  • Advanced Learner and HE loans
  • Higher education
  • Disclosure and Barring Service clearance
  • Learner Support Fund
  • National Scholarship fund (HE)
  • Care to Learn (Childcare for under 20s)

 

As a learner you will have access to our dedicated Specialist Learning Support and Mentor teams who will ensure you are able to achieve your goals.

We have highly trained teams of staff that can help provide a tailored support programme to meet your individual needs including

  • Access to a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to help you inside or outside the classroom
  • Group support in the classroom
  • Discrete support in the classroom
  • Specialised centralised support sessions
  • Note-takers or readers.
  • Mentoring sessions which will help you plan and organise you schedules
  • UCAS support
  • Special Examination Considerations such as extra time, readers, scribe or a separate room.
  • Access to specialised hardware and software
  • Access to assistive technology and specialist support
